COVID has educated us about drug development, testing, approval, administration and post launch study processes. All these steps to development clinical trials to real-world care heavily use data – generating data from various sources, analyzing them for efficacy and adverse reactions during, and post, trial. But without a solution to seamlessly manage and analyze these datasets together, the process can become manually intensive and delay the time-to-market and understanding of a drug. In this presentation, the Denodo partner will discuss how life sciences companies increasingly need to blend clinical trial and real-world data with a logical data fabric.

As organizations opt for cloud computing platforms and migrate their data and applications to a hybrid cloud environment, they use multiple platforms to support new and increasing data types for analytics. However, as enterprise data architectures expand to incorporate both cloud and on-premises platforms and systems, the complexity of the environment leads to operational inefficiencies. Data latency and redundant computation, coupled with diminished data awareness leads to missing data consumer expectations for rapid information analysis and delivery.

A logical data fabric is a modern and highly effective approach to unify distributed data in a hybrid environment. Organizations can leverage the logical data fabric to overcome systemic challenges, simplify analysis and reporting, and speed the reporting/analysis, data science lifecycle to empower downstream data consumers. In this session renowned analyst David Loshin will talk about the most important capabilities of the logical data fabric to deal with modern data management and analytics efforts.

Attendees will learn about:
• The emergence (and persistence) of the hybrid environment
• Challenges in enabling data consumption
• The need for data awareness in a hybrid enterprise
• The most critical capabilities of a logical data fabric

In this session, Jan will showcase how Nedbank Enterprise Data Services has implemented Denodo as a data virtualisation solution since 2017. The initial use case was to create an abstracted access layer on the legacy Operational Data Store. Four years down the line, the Nedbank is virtualizing many non-warehouse data sources, the entire legacy data warehouse as well as the target state data lake and data marts. The views are dynamically kept up to date when table changes occur. By 2021 Nedbank is expected to have a hybrid cloud Denodo solution in place and reporting which sources from Denodo enabled APIs and will be available via the Nedbank API marketplace.

Infineon introduced the Denodo Platform as a data virtualization solution in mid-2020. The platform was integrated into the existing business intelligence architecture and the related organizational frameworks were set up. Since then a couple of data virtualization use cases have been implemented based on different service models. One of the use cases is in the area of energy cost reporting within facility management, which is also the focus of this session. The initial evaluation of the use case showed that the traditional ETL-based approach would bring unnecessary complexity and costs. Therefore a virtual data mart was created using the Denodo Platform. Christian will showcase how the implementation of the Denodo platform has resulted in significant cost savings at Infineon technologies, increasing flexibility in terms of data connectivity and consumption, expediting speed to market for the E2E solutions, and enabling efficient prototyping. Additionally, Christian will highlight the necessary organizational guidelines and processes that complement the technical skills and know-how for delivering successful data virtualization projects.

Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, own no fleet; AirBnb , the largest accommodation provider owns no real estate. The extraordinary way that companies is growing fast, globally and with little investment, was with thin layers on top of a complex system of others’ goods or services that owned the customer interface. In Digital transformation- Data Minimization sometimes very useful to deliver business value rapidly without physical data redundancy – specially for seamless data migration from OLTP, OLAP, Legacy platforms for quick data domain/Data product access for incremental value until the desired Architecture/data estate evolve. To achieve the same -Data virtualization logically allows an application to retrieve and manipulate data without requiring technical details about the data, such as how it is formatted at source, or where it is physically located, and can provide a single customer view of the overall data. While implementing next-gen solution leveraging DV, it has certain set of key considerations and caveat with focused long term strategy, Target state Architecture and use case.

Our approach for data virtualization advisory takes the following 3 dimensions/areas into consideration:

  • Technology / Architecture
  • Business User Groups (your clients)
  • IT Organization

To deliver quick results, Q-PERIOR uses a multitude of accelerators in predefined topics within these three dimensions. In our presentation we will elaborate on client examples why such an exercise makes sense before rolling out Denodo and what kind of risks you can avoid doing so.

The value of cloud-based data & analytics solutions for organizations to become data-driven is immense. The demand for business agility, powered by serverless solutions that are fully integrated with on-prem, multi-cloud, and third-party applications has never been greater. While organizations aspire to move their workloads to cloud environments, the complexities of activities and processes around cloud migration have proven to be a challenge for most organizations to overcome. Often, organizations have to manage competing priorities of maintaining operational continuity, re-platforming, and identifying and proving value early to the stakeholders involved. These challenges hold the organizations back from successfully migrating their IT assets to the cloud and offer data-driven services to their customers. In this presentation, Jeff will speak about how organizations can smoothen their journeys to the cloud and unleash the power of data to truly become a data-driven organization.
